Genetic Epidemiology Laboratory
The Genetic Epidemiology Laboratory was established in the Pathology Department, University of Melbourne in December 2000. It is a collaborative Laboratory for Genetic Epidemiological Studies pursuing further understanding of the interplay between human genetics and diseases. It is composed of several interacting components including;
-
Biospecimen Facility
- Biospecimen Laboratory
- Tissue Culture Laboratory
- Immunohistochemistry/Pathology Laboratory
-
Molecular Laboratory
The laboratories are skilled and structured to meet the needs of studies that routinely require the management of large biological specimen collections and molecular analyses. The laboratory's structures and protocols enable systematic flow of large numbers of specimens ranging from the establishment, maintenance and dispatch of cell cultures and DNA, teamed with molecular analyses and supported by bioinformatics systems to address specific biological questions.
