Community Involvement

Staff of the Centre for MEGA Epidemiology participate in a wide range of community activities including advisory, review and policy-making bodies of academic, non-governmental and governmental agencies locally, nationally and internationally. We have provided expert advice in public health strategic planning and capacity building for National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) groups on air pollution and antimicrobial resistance; the National Asthma Council; the Biostatistics Collaboration of Australia; the Victorian Department of Human Services on infectious and sexually transmitted diseases and the Health Policy Unit, Ministry of Health, Republic of Viet Nam.

Professor John Hopper (Director) is a regular member of numerous grant review committees. He is also on the editorial board of Genetic Epidemiology. He is a member of the Steering Committee of the Victorian Cancer Family Genetics Service, and a member of the Victorian Department of Human Service’s Genetics Advisory Group and the Ministerial Taskforce on Cancer.
