Australian Twin Registry

The Australian Twin Registry has received a 5-year Enabling Grant from the NHMRC to continue and strengthen it as a resource for Australian and international researchers wishing to conduct twin studies. The ATR has contact details of more than 30,000 pairs of twins who have agreed to volunteer to consider participation in studies of medical and scientific importance. Scientists wishing to conduct twin research apply to the ATR, which, after careful scrutiny, invites appropriate twins to take part. The ATR organises mail-outs to sub-sets of twins based on selection criteria devised with researchers. The ATR has also collected baseline information on 5000 children and 9500 adults, and 7000 disease checklist questionnaires.

The ATR publishes the biennial newsletter 'Twins' which is available here.
